As studying and the university takes most of my time from blogging, I’ll have to sum up 3 days in one post. As you probably noticed, I posted several pictures of different occasions this week on Facebook. On Wednesday with Tiffany we went to Shinjuku to see the Hanazono shrine. It is a small shrine and like in other big cities it is hidden among the tall, modern buildings. And it really is hidden, as we barely noticed its entrance between two taller buildings. It was really beautiful, the shrine’s vivid red color looked amazing in the bright sunshine. After this we went to Shinjuku gyoen, which is a bigger park with 3 separate park areas. At the entrance there are these big trees which kind of remind you of a botanical garden. Then after a brief walk we arrived to a traditional Japanese garden, with smaller ponds. I liked this part the most and it was the biggest part of the gardens too. After this came the French garden fully planted with rose. Hundreds of different roses everywhere and their names and origins written on boards. We had difficulty leaving this place as we wanted to smell all of the roses. The third was an English park, which to Tiffany’s astonishment was only a grassy field. Well if anyone has been to one of the bigger parks in London, then they will know why it looked like this.
On Thursday with my club we went to the Edo-Tokyo museum which is next to the sumo hall in Ryogoku. As we have planned this trip earlier I was up studying the previous day till dawn to be able to there. The museum, as the name suggests, shows Japan’s Edo era, with miniature districts and all kinds of exhibited items from this era. It was really interesting, and the best part was that you could try some of the items too. After the Edo era there was a modern period too, but this part was much smaller. After one and a half hour they announced that the museum will close, so we had to leave. I would have liked to stay a bit more, but even so I felt great especially as I went there with my club. The club’s next destination will be the Ghibli museum, which we’ll visit in June.
Today on Saturday there was the Sanja Matsuri (festival) in Asakusa, which we attended with a group from our dorm. We left at half past 12 in the afternoon and arrived at about half past 13, but we did not miss anything as this is a festival where they march with several omikoshi-s (smaller shrines). These omikoshis can weigh hundreds of kilograms so more people carry them together through the streets of Asakusa. It’s fun to see these people, wearing the same robes in their groups and yelling constantly: Soiya! Seiya! After watching several of these omikoshis, we decided to eat something at the booths. Hiromi and I hungered for okonomiyaki, which is made with ramen (soup) noodles. After this we went to one of the smaller stages where geishas performed all kinds of dances. As the festival programs were nearing to their end, we decided to go to Yoyogi Park to see the Thai festival. There well several Thai food stalls and on a larger stage there were Thai singers performing (at least I think they were Thais, they were yelling in the microphones so I could not recognize the language). As I heard much about Thai mango, I decided to try it. I ate mango a couple of times, but never one that was so delicious. I liked it so much I bought a second one, and I also tried dragonfruit.
Tomorrow we’ll watch a sumo match, but before that we will visit the famous Tsukiji Fish-Market too. I will tell you about that soon.
(The second part of the photos comes always after the hungarian part, so don't miss it!!)

Miután több ilyen omikoshi-t is megnéztünk úgy döntöttünk, eszünk valamit a standoknál.
